Goals of the HTCG
  1. Promote and support home (hobby) and classroom plant tissue culture using inexpensive equipment and supplies

  2. Provide education through national, regional and/or community meetings, workshops, and the sale of hobby kits and supplies

  3. Share ideas, protocols, recipes and sources of information other via a website and/or virtual newsletters

  4. Work closely with K-14 teachers and students to help them learn and understand the benefits of home tissue culture

  5. Seek donations and grant money to support our goals.

History

The Home Tissue Culture Listserv was founded about 13 years ago by Carol Stiff.  The goal was to help people communicate with each other, share ideas, compare methods, exchange seeds, plants and cultures, and find sources of supplies needed in hobby tissue culture.  After existing for 10 years, it was decided that a more formal presence was needed to unite hobby tissue culturists all over the world and to aid in finding grant monies for in-person meetings and further training.

Board of Directors and Officers

We would like to organize regional workshops to further educate eveyone in the fine art of hobby/classroom plant tissue culture. In this process we hope to train new instructors who can then teach future regional workshops thus saving money on the expense of long distance travel.
