"Dedicated to teaching and promoting home tissue culture"

We are a non-stock, nonprofit* corporation organized under the laws of Wisconsin.
*HTCA  will apply for a tax exemption [501(c )(3)] status as soon as our directors elect officers and write our bylaws.

Our Goals

  1. To support members of the Home Tissue Culture Listserv which was created to share experiences with other non-professionals, those with limited experience and those who are passionate about plant tissue culture.

  2. To help members share ideas, cultures, seeds, protocols, recipes and sources of information with each other via a website and virtual newsletters.

  3. To work closely with K-14 teachers and students to help them learn and understand the benefits of using inexpensive home tissue culture

  4. To encourage national, regional, and/or community meetings of hobbyists, Master Gardeners, nurserymen, teachers, students and any plant lover interested in home plant tissue culture

  5. To pursue grant monies that aid in our overall goals

History

The Home Tissue Culture Listserv was founded about 10 years ago by Carol Stiff.  The goal was to help people communicate with each other, share ideas, compare methods, exchange seeds, plants and cultures, and find sources of supplies needed in hobby tissue culture.  After existing for 10 years, it was decided that a more formal presence was needed to unite hobby tissue culturists all over the world and to aid in finding grant monies for in-person meetings and further training.
